Happy New Year! 2014
Happy New Year to everyone! I hope you are all recovering from the holiday season!
2013 was a great year – I had some amazing times touring with the Dunwells in 2013, the highlights for me being – recording at Dave Grohl’s studio 606 on the legendary Sound City board, our single “I Could Be A King” reaching the US Billboard Hot AC top 40, spending a random night in LA recording a Richie Havens song with George Drakoulias, watching Dave Grohl deliver a truly inspirational keynote speech at South By Southwest, zig-zagging across the America and Canada playing countless festivals on the Summer tour, including our biggest show to date (20,000 people) at the Cropredy festival.
2014 is promising to be an exciting year. I have spent the last few months writing material for my debut solo album. This has allowed me to embrace my blues and rock roots, and hopefully will satisfy all of you that have been wanting to hear more of my guitar playing! I’m just about to start recording sessions so I’m excited to share this new music with you soon!
I’m also excited to be part of a new venture called Six String Social working with my good friend Martin Harley. Launching in London on March 25th, Six String Social is a regular night of music dedicated to the lost art of guitar playing. Inspired by the great guitar scene in London of the late 60’s that produced countless legends, we wanted to create a breeding ground for new talent, and a unity for existing guitarists and bands. I will be playing material from my debut album at the opening night, which is at a fantastic venue – The Blues Kitchen in Camden – on March 25th.
I’m still painting and am working on a collection of pieces inspired by the Dunwells tours across America – I have set up an online gallery which you can access here
